Expanded Overview of the “Women’s Resilience Support Project” for Internally Displaced Persons, including Psychosocial Support in Shelters

Stages:


First stage
From the study, 6 shelters with 383 women and 1250 women in host communities in need of small livelihood projects in Port Sudan city.

The second stage
Training women on how to «soap industry, kurushi, food industries, leather industries».

Third Stage:
Seeking support opportunities through partners wishing to provide means of production for women.

Main Objectives:

  1. Provide Training and Productive Tools for Women in Shelters:
    – Conduct vocational training workshops to teach practical skills such as handicrafts, sewing, and food processing.
    – Distribute production tools and equipment to enable women to start income-generating activities.
  2. Establish a Sales Exhibition Platform for Products Made by Women:
     Organize periodic fairs and exhibitions to display and sell products made by displaced women.
    – This will provide an outlet for women to generate income from their acquired skills and productivity.
  3. Promote Women’s Economic Empowerment:
    – Facilitate access to microfinance and business development support for women to expand their productive activities.
    – Provide business management training to help women effectively manage their small enterprises.
  4. Strengthen Community and Peer Support Networks:
    – Encourage the formation of self-help groups for women in the shelters.
    – Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning among the participating women.
  5. Psychosocial and Social Support in Shelters:
    – Provide psychological and social counseling services to displaced women to assist with adaptation and recovery.
    – Train shelter staff on gender-sensitive approaches in providing psychosocial support.
  6. Advocacy for Gender-Responsive Policies and Services for the Internally Displaced:
    – Engage local authorities and humanitarian organizations to ensure the unique needs of displaced women are addressed.
    – Promote policies and programs that prioritize women’s economic and social empowerment in displacement contexts.

Target women:
We target four thousand female displaced women in host communities and shelters to build their capacities in small projects and prepare them psychologically Port Sudan Gadarif Kassala.
